As promised, this is the second posting on CNY cards. The theme is still the same - cherry blossom flowers. However, the aim is to incorporate more CNY colours into the cards - mainly warm colours like red, orange, yellow and gold. The colour of red signifies good luck according to Chinese customs.
So, the first card has a red background with gold cherry blossoms, coupled with a off-white lace ribbon. The stem is a repeating pattern from Hero Arts 'Thank You Flourishes' stamp set. This card is very subtle - suitable for CNY, as well as other occasions.
The next card uses rhinestones (from WHSmith) as the pollen centers, with a yellow ribbon (from American Crafts Page Kit Baby) as a divider. It wishes the recipient 'gong xi fa cai' and 'happy CNY'. 'Gong xi fa cai' is a 'congratulatory and prosperity' wish on this joyous new year.
Last but not least, a landscape-oriented card with orange flowery background (by Dovecraft - Kate Knight 'Wild Blossom' collection). I think the green cherry blossoms with yellow gold centers stand out quite well on the chosen background. Love the finish look.. :)
So, that's all of my CNY cards for this Rabbit year 2011. Thank you for reading. Hope you like them as much as I enjoy making them. So, which is your favourite? Out of the 5 cards, I am torn between Cards 1 and 3. Hmmm... anyway, wishing you a prosperous and happy 2011. Gong xi fa cai!
